When will my 8month old baby walk?

My DS is very early. He was crawling at 6 months and standing up at 61/2, holding on to sth. Sometimes when he's standing up and I'm supporting him for balance, I can let him go and he will stand unsupported for quite a few seconds. Now I've noticed he tries to go from the sofa to the table etc. He 8months and a week old.

It varies, but just because your baby crawls early doesn't mean they will walk early.
My ds started crawling at 5 months (backwards!) and he was confidently cruising the furniture at 7 months.
However, he had some spectacular falls onto his head, and I'm sure he was a bit put off the whole 'letting go' thing, and didn't walk properly until 12 months. So he actually did 5 months of cruising. Obviously he felt that everything he needed was available by walking around the furniture.
I have read that if a baby is very fast at crawling or 'bear walks', which is where they crawl with straight arms and legs, they may crawl for longer - walking would only slow them down. Grin
