I'm just curious as to what age peoples babies were when they were able to reach out and grasp an object. Im a little concerned that my 4 1/2 month ds isn't doing this yet and doesnt seem to be interested either! Should I be concerned?

She's 10 weeks and already grabbing my hair when I lean over to change her nappy. DD1 was much later, tho.

mine was not that interested at 4 months either, he would bop things a bit but not grasp. think they all develope differently at six months he still had not rolled over and then two weeks before christmas he rolled over and within six weeks was sitting up,crawling andpulling himself up on the furniture. now he can't keep still and is into everything. i reckon he was just checking out the world to see how it worked before he got stuck in!

dd didn't grab/hold til about 5m then came on in leaps and bounds. ASlso with rolling, we thought she was about to do it for months and then all of a sudden she can get half way round the room doing it. think brian 2 is right, they "consider" alot

Im sure one day he'll just surprise me and is binding his time. He bats and swats at things alot then seems to find gazing round the room far more ineteresting!

My dd did not reach out for things until she was 7 months and sitting up. She is not interested in toys generally. Never cared for rattles. More interested in being around people.

Ds started this at about 8-9 weeks old - just batting at first. I remember as we were leaving for the U.S when he was 10 weeks old and he was already grasping rings that hung above him by then. He is now feeding himself pretty well with a spoon at nearly 15 months - so his fine motor skils are very good. HOWEVER he can't walk yet so gross motor skills are not great and he couldn't sit up until about 8-9 months old. Don't worry all babies are different
