Woo hoo!!! DS2 is telling lies

DS2 has told one lie after another since coming home from school today. He's 4.9, and ate half of a chocolate bar DH had bought for me, claiming quite convincingly he hadn't had any before, and it was meant for him (he had already shared one with DH - I suspected this but wasn't 100% sure), he claimed DH had already given him his medication this evening (he hadn't), and he took a nice pen that I left on the countertop, and put it in his own treasure box, and then denied it.

This is new. I am :o and Shock

DS2 has struggled with social skills a lot, and this is completely new behaviour. Something must have clicked in his brain. Obviously if you have an NT child it's a pain, and he needs to learn not to lie etc etc but for DS2 it's a positive step as he's showing his theory of mind is developing. :o

Learning to lie is fantastic! It's a developmental milestone - well done your DS2.

I know exactly what you mean.

DD1 is 15 and still brutally honest to the point of being quite destructive at times. I was quite relieved when DD2 started lying although at 9 she still hasn't enough theory of mind to make her lies stand up under the slightest scrutiny. She does however have an amazing fantasy life going on in her head and it's sometimes hard to work out which is which.

hurrah! Ds is 6, has aspergers and has only just started lying recently. He went to beavers, came home and told us fabulously elaborate lies/stories about what they had played. Apparently his favourite game is where Frog (the leader) lets them all squeeze bananas at her and the winner is the one who gets the most banana on Frog!
