Dealing with new sibling

My three year old ds has turned into a complete nightmare since dd arrival four months ago. Decided to try and spend as much time with him and do lots of fun things, which I have done for last week but his behaviour actually seems worse?! His grandparents and dad also give him lots of attention. We have kept his routine largely the same.

My dd has some health issues and is bf which obviously is time I am unavaliable to him. She is so good natured and loves him. She smiles lots at him despite his sly digs at her.

Am not sure what to do next as his behaviour is awful. I dont even like him any more. He has always been wilful but now he is like the child from the film problem child.

Any ideas?

Yes. Read 'Three Shoes, One Sock and No Hairbrush' by Rebecca Abrams. It's a fantastic book, all about having a second child. The basic premise is that having your second child is just as seismic an event as having your first, but that nobody ever tells you about it. It explains why your first child will change over night, and why you might not like them very much any more, and gives you tips on how to deal with it all, and helps you to realise that it will get better. It saved my sanity when I had DS2.

You could also check the Children's Books sections for books to read with your DS about having a new baby sister.

There's a lovely Usborne book called Baby Sister
