Toddler removing sleeping bag

Dd is 23 months and has worked out how to take her sleeping bag off. Every morning now I go into her room and she's out of it, sometimes out of her pyjamas too. She goes to a nanny share two days a week and the nanny has told me she is trying to climb out of the travel cot she has her nap in, because she can get out of her sleeping bag. She can't climb out of her cot (yet) at home because it's bigger.

What do I do? Move her into a duvet and pillow? I thought you weren't supposed to do that till they are in a normal bed? I don't want to move her to a proper bed yet as I am 37 weeks pg and wanted to keep things as normal as possible for her at the moment while she gets used to there being a new baby.

At 23 months there is no reason you can't use a duvet and pillow.
Ds had one from about 12 months

Thanks Sirzy. Even in a fully enclosed cot? Do they actually stay under it at this age?

Hi Rhubarb we just made the move from grobag to pillow and duvet a couple of nights ago. Our DS is 26 months and in a normal cot, he kept unzipping his grobag too so we thought it was time for a change, even though I always panic about changing anything bed related in case it messes his sleep up.
So far, so good. He actually seems to be staying under it and is very begiggled with the whole idea! It makes his bed look so much cosier, so I'm pleased we finally changed. Got some really nice duvet sets in Ikea, and got him involved in the choosing.
Goodluck with the rest of your pregnancy :)

I actually sewed up one of the tabs at the top of the sleeping bag, so the bag is partially still on!

Hi - I had this problem too, and my DD was removing her nappy, so changing to a duvet wouldn't have worked for me as I wanted her to keep the nappy on! I just put the sleeping bags on inside out and that seems to have foiled her efforts - for now, anyway!!

Thanks. Some ingenious ideas to try! I think I shall try to drum up some energy to do an Ikea run as well, then we've got a duvet and linen to move her into if necessary.

Trouble is if you move to duvet now she'll be able to escape and either hurl herself over the bars of the cot, or climb out and roam free.

Another one here for the inside out sleeping bag. Fiddly to do the zip up, but works a treat. I was all for keeping my toddlers contained as long as I could get away with it!

Fleecy babygro back to front?

My sister did this with her DD when she started to remove her nappy in the early hours of the morning.
