DS1 was born at 6.30pm on Friday, so he's not 48 hours old yet. We came home yesterday after a very settled night in hospital.
He's had wet and dirty nappies and has fed a few times. Last night I fed him at 8.30pm, he went to sleep and didn't wake til 5.30am! I fed him at 6am after doing bum change and he winded and went back to sleep and is still asleep now.

Now my two DDs both spent longer in hospital and were feeding every couple of hours when we bought them home, so is it ok that he's not feeding so often yet?

It also doesn't feel like my milk has come in properly yet, but he's not screaming for food, he's very contented really?

I'm a bit confused as I was expecting to he sleep deprived and knackered by now, and so far I've had two really rested nights :-s. ?

Wow you're lucky!!! Your colostrum must be very rich! . As you've had 2 you know they're all different so you've got a lovely calm D,S. congrats BTW!. as long as he's feeding and everything else don't worry at all!! Smile.

Being born is quite stressful from the babies' end too! He's just recovering!

Sounds like he is having a rest after being born. I would keep offering regular feeds, ie don't wait for him to cry, but feed when he starts to snuffle and fidget around. The more he feeds, the better your milk will come in.
I expect he'll wake up and feed loads today, but if he doesn't, would ring the midwife for advice.
Am jealous of your newborn snuggles!

Thank you. He's just woke and routed and is feeding quite happily now!!

I just didn't expect him to be so calm and after a very speedy 4 hr labour which was very calm and controlled I'm feeling pretty good too, not battered and bruised like I did after DDs!!

Thank you for the reassurance! Midwife will be coming today too so will ask about waking to feed him - tho I'm certain of will change in next day or so!!!
Xx Smile

Hi again

Since this morning when I first posted, my DS has fed really well, long and frequent, so I'm quite happy!

Midwife has also been and assured me all is ok, and to say she hopes I made the most of last night as it probably won't happen again for the next 4 months!!!! Grin

My youngest was a very sleepy, relaxed baby. With the advice of midwives, and a panicked dash to hospital. We were assured that as long as we woke her up to feed every 3 hours during the day she would be fine. We never woke her up at night though.

She's a year now - she's still very chilled - a great feeder and sleeper still.

A sleepy relaxed baby is a joy.

Lucky you!
