my dd is not really standing or cruising yet and seems to have little real strength in her little legs. The specialist has ruled out cp, and suggested doing some blood tests etc for the absence of muscle enzymes. anyone else any experience of this? i can lead dd around, holding her hands(and she puts her whole feet flat on ground) but after a while she just buckles her legs. an mri scan has been mentioned as a possibility in 3 months' time but that involves a general anaesthetic so not keen. DD appears fine in all other respects.

Has she had her hips z-rayed for hip displacia or ant other abnormalities.

no she hasn't. the doctor has twisted her legs about, as they do, and says her hips appear to be ok, but xrays not mentioned

My dd had her hips x-rayed at least a sozen times and all seemed fine, because she was prem, it was just done routinely, but it turned out she was born with a dislocated hip, might be worth mentioning

Sorry she did'nt have them x-rayed a dozen times, i meant just a physical examination.

a friend of a friend had a little boy like this... just would NOT bear weight at all. wouldn't even walk holding onto anything.

anyway, he is almost 2 now and just starting to pull himself up to get to things he wants.

they found NO reason for it... he just wasn't ready yet!!!

tks starlover - just what i wanted to hear

also i read (on here i think) that the average age for walking is 16 months anyway! so wouldn't worry too much, especially if she is fine in all other respects...

i reckon it's pretty clever actually... why walk when you can be carried?
