Any gratefully received!

Not looking to spend a lot, but would if it was something she would really love. Things I'm currently thinking of are (mainly lots of little things):

bath crayons and bath letters, playdough, play tunnel, umbrella, back pack and a kite (I know she's too young but thing she'd like to see it on the beach).

Thanks :)

Wooden train set- a classic for girls as well as boys!

SootySweepandSue · 13/04/2012 20:56

Pretend picnic set? Am thinking teddies in the garden on a blanket.

Does she have dolly things already? I was recently inspired by a friend who is still playing with hers at age 10! In terms of getting value/longevity out of things...

Morph2 · 13/04/2012 20:59

my DS is two next month and i'm getting him an easel. There's one in the argos book 29.99 thats got good reviews.

happygilmore · 13/04/2012 21:08

She's not too into dollies, but does have lots of teddies. She might like that for the future tho.

Train set sounds a good idea, was just looking at them in ikea actually.

Already got an easel but a good idea thanks!

We got a doll's house designed for 4+ but she played with it loads, the pack away one. DS had a xylophone and loved that.

eggtimer · 13/04/2012 21:10

Mine are 2 1/2 and LOVE their pull-along wagons.

My two-year old daughter loves her Peppa Pig playtent above all her other toys - she spends AGES in there every day, hiding, talking to her dollies or reading to herself. Best toy we ever bought.

neolara · 13/04/2012 21:14

Maisy Mouse books and DVDs

MrsJamin · 13/04/2012 21:17

Tesco set is better than ikea set btw. Mix it with some plastic animals and you have a zoo train!

Tea set, play food, doctor's set and doll's pushchair all played with a lot here at about that age.

Mine also loved and still love Playmobil 123. Chunkier than Playmobil, no fiddly bits but lots of fun.

Happyland and Fisher Price Little People v good too.

MrsJamin · 13/04/2012 21:48

Yes that one. Ikea one has plastic bits in the track which doesn't fit together very easily.

cakeaddict · 13/04/2012 22:18

Duplo? My 2 year old plays with it for ages (so does my 4 yr old too - so lasts a while...)

ThisIsMummyPig · 13/04/2012 22:55

Dolls pram - even if not into dolls. playdough if she won't eat it. I am asking for cash for a scooter as my DD is a 2nd girl, and we have every toy imaginable. If you don't have a sand pit that is the single best toy we have ever had in terms of cash spent to use had.

duchesse · 13/04/2012 23:02

Brio train track or supermarket equivalent. Play value that lasts for years.

3duracellbunnies · 14/04/2012 11:15

Sticklebricks, sticklebricks, or maybe sticklebricks. Can you tell that mine are/were big fans of sticklebricks, longest lasting most frequently played with toy, 18month to 5yrs boys and girls.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 14/04/2012 11:31

If you can push the budget get her a Mini Micro Scooter. DD loves hers and my friend managed to pick one up for £3 at a car boot.

mrsXsweet · 14/04/2012 11:41

Play doh and cutters were by far the most successful present my daughter received.

EBDteacher · 14/04/2012 12:19

My DS is 2 in August. He's obsessed with water so I might get him this

happygilmore · 15/04/2012 09:07

Thanks for all the great recommendations. I think we'll get her a train set and a tunnel/tent play thing, I've also got her some playdough too. I think we already have some sticklebricks waiting to be played with so must get them out! Think we also have a dolls pram waiting to be played with too (I'm always buying 'bargains' and putting them in the loft) so must get that out as well.

She's not balanced enough for a scooter yet (had a few problems getting walking) but maybe for her next birthday :)

Thanks very much for all the suggestions.

DD1 got the Ikea play kitchen and it has been a huge favourite for a long time, both with her and with her younger sister. Same for the dolls pram she got from her grandparents.
DD2 will get a trike, though I don't yet know what else...

Murtette · 17/04/2012 21:11

DD suddenly got really into role play around her second birthday so anything related to that - a kitchen, dolls house, bus, broom & duster, tea set - all of those sorts of things
