Has anyone had experience of using the Ikea KURA reversible bed www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/80123993/ with their DC if so how does it perform and did you go with the foam matress that they advise or a spring one. Very Confused which bed to go for.

DS has been co-sleeping with DP and I and likes a lot of room.

Hello - no experience of those Ikea beds. Someone will be bound to know though! We have thuka shorty beds for our 2 which started off as bunk beds before we moved and now are separate beds. You can buy extra kits and change them from beds to mid-sleepers/bunks etc. So quite flexible. I like the fact that they are the same width as normal singles but shorter and you can buy an extension kit later on if needs be. They are quite pricey though but are solid so should last.

Ooh thanks Sleepy I think I may have to go and look at this bed before purchasing the one I was thinking of...It looks very comfy Smile though the lenght might be an issue as he is quite tall for his age.

My dd has this bed in pink exept it was 100 pound from argos at the time. I sae this today and am going to get it ASAP as i haven't seen one that cheap before! My dd finds it very comfy. You neednt worry about the size they are for 18 months- 5 years. My dd is 4 in 2 months and will have a year left in it I think plus she is tall for her age too. Il find the mattress she has and il post you a link

We have 3 kids altogether so as well as the thuka shorties we also have an extendable toddler bed from mothercare which has been very sturdy. It's better than the Ikea kritter bed which we also used for a while (we have loads of beds Grin) as it's wider and more solid, though when extended it is a bit shorter. It looks similar quality and style to the one Sleepy linked to, but it extends, although we've never actually extended it! DS2 who's 2.8 is in it now. This one is cot bed size, so we have used cot bed fitted sheet plus cot bed duvet in the past. A single duvet also works folded under.

For the Thuka beds I splashed out on matching fitted short sheets which I bought with the beds from Rainbow Wood in Farnham. These are a perfect fit. They were pricey but have a waterproof layer so if there are any accidents they don't leak through. As spares, I also bought some similar fitted sheets in ordinary single size from Amazon and they do fit ok. Single duvets are fine for these.

PeanutButterOnly · 10/04/2012 19:11

I mean 'when not extended' it is a bit shorter than the Kritter.

PeanutButterOnly · 10/04/2012 19:12

Obviously I am supposed to be putting 3 kids to bed, not on Mumsnet talking about beds, hence my long post doesn't make too much sense!!

Peanut thanks for taking the time to explain! Smile

I can really recommend Dream Tubes which mean you can put them straight into a normal bed after the cot. It is a fitted sheet with zip up compartments for inflatable tubes. FANTASTIC. Check out the reviews on Amazon.

Peigeon thanks for the recommendation. It sounds like a good idea. Will check it out.
