Any late clappers/wavers/pointers etc. that caught up?

My DS has just turned 11 months and doesen't wave/clap/point or show any signs of doing so. He doesn't really imitate us at all, apart from if we do a fake sneeze, he sometimes makes an 'achoo' sound which is quite funny! He doesn't give hugs or kisses or hold his arms out to be picked up.

He is very smiley both at us and at strangers, laughs a lot if we do something funny. He seems interested in people and has good eye contact, although occasionally he sort of stares into space. He babbles strings of consonants. He seems to be on track physically and is cruising round furniture and takes a few steps if we are holding his arms.

I know it's not that late not to be doing these things at the moment but I am starting to worry. I was wondering if there were any other babies that got round to these things a bit later and then 'caught up'?

Yes, I posted about my DS not pointing at pretty much that age. He didn't point until after his first birthday. He didn't wave or clap either and was pretty useless at copying other gestures (like the moves for twinkle twinkle).

He is 19mo now and absolutely fine. Actually he is a very good talker, 100+ words, combining words etc and although he can point and gesture perfectly normally he still chooses to try to communicate with words wherever possible. For example, he can wave but rarely does. He says 'bye bye x' to people (just 'bye people' for people he doesn't know) and 'bye x' for 'things' we are leaving (like bye swimming). He's even said 'bye that thing' when he doesn't know what it's called! He just seems to prefer words over gestures.

I wouldn't worry about it unless there's more to the picture- which it doesn't sound lke there is.

DS has only been waving and clapping for a few weeks really and he only started doing both spontaneously in the last week. He's 19 months old and perfectly fine.

DS1 was definitely over one before he did any of these things. No issues, was a fairly early talker (or at least average with "first words" but fluent quite quickly).

My dd has just turned 11 months. She claps and recognises nursery rhymes that involve clapping, waves goodbye, shakes her head (no) if we offer her water/food and doesn't want it, she doesn't really point, but it's rude to point Grin She has done all of these for as long as I can remember.
But she doesn't really move which worries me. She sits up and is very sturdy but has made no attempt to crawl. She sits, taking everything in.
Just goes to show they develop so differently in !

Ah, thanks both, that's reassuring to hear. All the babies his age I know seem to be waving and clapping so I was getting a bit worried.
