two under 18m both in cloth nappies?

I'm pregnant with dc2 and wondering if its really viable to wash two sets of nappies.

Also, dd1 is in totsbots which aren't sposed to be as good for taller babies which she's turning out to be. Should I buy some new ones for her and doea it matter if they use the same nappies just on different settings? (just need a bit of encouragement to know I'm not crazy to attempt this tbh)

I've got a 2 yr old and a 10 day old and both are in cloth nappies. We bought some bummis prefolds and wraps for the baby, as they're great for catching poo explosions and are cheaper than forking out for more bumgenius.

We use Bumgenius v3 and v4 and flips on the older DC, as well as a couple of TB easyfits and TB bamboozles for overnight.

No problems washing more nappies so far, though we've increased the temp to 60 instead of the usual 30 (until the baby turns 3 months).

You might want to repost in the cloth nappies section as there are loads of experienced cloth users with great advice there Smile

DS was born just before DD turned 2. I therefore had two babies in cloth nappies for a few months too.
It was no problem at all.
They shared the same nappies. I too was using Tots Bots as well as Easy Peasy Nappies.
I had extra washing to do, but no other issues with it.
Give it a try. It won't be as different as you think. :)

In some ways it's easier - you can wash more often. I used totsbots for both and it was fine. Both mine also tall and had no probs. Did need to get more wraps tho as they stopped being waterproof

We had 2 in tb bamboozles which was fine. It just generated more washing and because they are sized I dyed the size 1st so I could tell them apart at a glance. DS is so enormous that he outgrew the size 1st by 4mo. Fortunately dd potty trained at the same time...

yup, we'vev got DS, 2yo and DD 5 months in cloth and it's fine. Although she does wee an awful lot so we use a few more disposables when out and about than we did before.
She's so big and he's so diddy that the nappies are set up the same size, very easy!

I also had two in cloth with an 18 month gap. Bamboozles. DD trained early so it was only for about six months, but yes, totally doable.

Having more nappies to wash did make it easier in a way!

I had two under 18 mo and another older child in night nappies. We used motherease one size so just used different poppers for newborn. A stash of nappies/wipes/bin downstairs and one upstairs. It wasn't a huge amount more work than just having a newborn with 15 changes a day!

Mind you, if you can acquire some newborn sized nappies then the volume /size would be less?

Of our first four, we had at least two in daytime nappies for a five year stretch. For 9 months of that time three were in nappies during the day and for about three years we had two in daytime nappies and three or four in night time ones. That meant we never had less than 12 nappies a day to wash and often at least twice as many. We used Terries exclusively and I found only, as others have said, that you had to wash more often. You simply develop a routine and it becomes such a part of life it's no different from making beds or washing dishes - what fun!! I found it helped to fold the nappies as I put them away from the line or drier into the fold I was going to use later. I also found it helped to keep dirty nappies separate from wet ones so the latter could be washed on a shorter programme at a lower temperature. I must admit I did not always change the plastic pants - which despite the contempt of many for them we found to be very good - when changing a nappy that was only wet. (On the odd occasions we used disposables we found them less satisfactory for leaks and DS1 who was not quick to come out of night time nappies, said that disposables were not as comfy because there was a lot of sticky plastic touching him.)

I had two in cloth nappies for about 6 months, but had stage 1 nappies for baby and stage 2 ones for her sister. The only difference really was I borrowed an extra bucket, and managed to keep washing them every 2-3 days. It's honestly no more trouble than one in disposables and one in washables. (and so much cheaper)

Thanks ladies. Very encouraging. I'll hop over to the cloth nappies board (haven't found it yet!) to ask for recommendations re new born nappies
