Does this sound like 4 month sleep regression?

Our DS has just hit 16 weeks. Pretty much from day one we have been very lucky to have good sleep and from 12 weeks he's been sleeping right through. He was exclusivly breast fed for the first 12 weeks then we introduced an evening bottle the a lunch time bottle at 14 weeks. For a week now his sleep has been broken through the night. He goes down as usual at 8pm after a 9oz bottle, he then stirs at 12 and then is on/off for the rest of the night randomly stiring at short intervals till 6am ish when he starts his day. When he stirs through the night we pop his dummy back in and he goes straight back to sleep and has never wanted fed through the night.

This sound very different from other peoles experiences on here, but is this still the 4 month regression?

Thanks

Mine is a similar age and waking all through the night BUT wanting boob :( Did sleep a bit better but never all the way through. I'm actually muchly envious! I should probably start my own thread not to derail yours...

(But will watch this one closely for any suggestions!)

Could just be that he doesn't know how to get back to sleep without the dummy? We had this with ours at about 4 months and it went on until we introduced a Sleepytot and he could replace the dummy himself at 8 months. Does he fall asleep on the bottle or with a dummy in his mouth?

I'd acutaly suggest weaning off the dummy, it could be the 4month sleep regresion/groth spurt (he may actualy need feeding during the night now) It's very unusealy for a baby not to need feeding at night at 4months(you've been very luckly so far). But if he goes back to sleep with the dummy then he is waking up needing it put back in, you could be doing this for months if you don't wean him off it.

What other people said - yes, could well be the sleep regression, but could well be dummy issues.

Google the Pantley Pull Off or read the No-Cry Sleep Solution for a gentle way to help your child use the dummy to go to sleep but not need it replacing in the night.

When he wakes he does not cry he just kicks his legs and makes the odd cooing sound, as soon as it starts the dummy is pushed in, we stroke his head and he's over for a short while then we go through it again, and again.

We're thinking of getting him up at the first stirring then feed him and put him back down. Does this sound reasonable?

We're worried its too early to take the dummy off him, he's four months exactly. would we just take it away then let him cry himself to sleep, (with 3 minute checks and minimal reasurance as we did to get him to sleep from awake)

watching with interest as we are going through a similar phase.
