Did your DC's mood improve when they finally got mobile?

DS is almost 13 months but was 3 months premature so more like 10 months developmentally. He does not crawl, roll except in his cot at night - he doesn't really have any way to get around.

He loves being on his feet though and will happily cruise along the sofa if you stand him up against it, or hold your hands and walk. The thing is that we can't be doing that every minute or ever day and much of the rest of the time he is completely miserable - he will go in his jumperoo for 10 minutes, or sit and play with toys for 10 minutes but the rest of the time he is whinging or crying.

Please tell me that his mood will improve when he can finally get about. I am pg with DS2 and terrified that I'm just going to get too miserable babies to look after all day long Sad

I had the same thing before DS could crawl and it was much better when he was finally moving. However he does seem to be at that stage again where he is moaning a lot and could be because he is now standing on his own and making a few small steps. I think a lot of it is frustration and very difficult to listen to but things should get easier when he starts moving. Hang in there and I'm sure both babies will be very happy so don't worry. And your DS will have someone to occupy him too :)

DD was the same, she was very frustrated before she crawled, then before she walked, and again not long ago with her words - as soon as she mastered things she became happy again!

DD was very frustrated until she could walk and she went from being a miserable baby to a happy active lunatic almost overnight when she could walk unaided.

Thank you all. Sounds like I just need to hang on in there!

Salt fingers crossed for happy babies soon!

I'd defo take a 'happy active lunatic' than a miserable, stationary grump!!

YES. My DS whinged for 2 months, then crawled and turned into a thrilled jolly, interested baby and we've never looked back.

And he is a real mover (so it must have been so annoying for him) - he walked then basically ran a week later and hasn't stopped since. DH even said today "will he always run or will he kind of, walk a bit?" as we went for an energetic jog around a park.....

oh yes they are often VILE when they are at the stage where they want to be mobile and cant, it improves HUGELY once they can move, but then of course you have to chase them around and stop them getting into everything they shouldnt!

but mobile babies are ime of 5, much happier than those that cant move!

My lo is nearly 7 months and winges all day and I'm sure it's because she is frustrated. She can't quite sit on her own yet but I'm sure it's because she's such a fidget so is always toppling herself over. Friends have told me that their babies got grouchy when they were trying to learn a new skill. Fingers crossed that is the reason.

I'm taking 5madthings's word for it. Thank God I read this thread! My 15mo DD is cruising but has literally turned from a sunny, happy girl into the whiniest child ever. It's awful. I hate looking forward to bedtime so much.

I think she's very frustrated that she can't quite get around independently. It drives her crazy. Her and us. Ah well, these things shall pass and all that.

Oh I feel your pain! DS1 was so happy when he could walk. Frustrated again now he doesn't have a lot of words
DS2 however, hmm! He isn't happy with crawling or standing! He wants to walk but he can't yet so all day I have this grumpy boy desperate he chase after his brother. I can't wait until he does finally.
