1st night without the pull ups

Wish me luck. We accidently ran out of pull ups this evening so I thought that we might as well see how we get on without them. Probably not very well as ds' pull ups are always wet in the morning. ds is 4 and I have been wanting him try being dry at night for a little while. With the warmer weather and the easter holidays, now is as gooder time as any. He went for a wee just before bed, and I went to lift him on to the toilet a little while ago, but he was already wet. Gutted because it was still warm (yuck) and I must have just missed getting there in time. I hope the rest of the night goes better for us. Would love any advice or tips. Thanks. : )

good luck

haha thank you 2shoes. : ) Somebody did give me those dry night bed mat things to lay under him, but he sort of screwed it all up when he moved in the bed so I still ended up changing the sheet earlier. D'oh!

Ooh good luck. I'm thinking of trying over the half term also. DS is 4 also. He was having 5/7 dry pull ups in the morning but we moved house last month and he's gone back to being wet most mornings. Let us know how you get on Grin

Well, it was a bit of a disaster. Atleast it's a nice day and all the bedding is in the wash. I had to put ds straight in the bath this morning so that he wouldn't be smelly. Thank you Shakey1500. : ) My ds was also having some dry pull ups a few months ago, but he has now gone back to wet every morning for a while. Should I give up or should I try again tonight? I really think that he just sleeps too deeply, he didn't even notice when he was wet.

I would give up tbh, and wait til have had a series of dry pullups in the mornings

nightime dryness is driven by hormones produced as the child's body matures and can't be trained for

in the meantime: increase fluid intake during the day, to stretch the bladder; a bigger bladder = greater holding capacity

It's not considered a problem til age 7 normally. this is a wonderful website

Plod on, yes? x

PS I had one in pullups beyond age 7 and one dry at night by age 3, they are all different

karlahine · 30/03/2012 10:02

oh bless you, exactly the same last night for me too! Only middle and youngest both without pullups, I can tell you the washing machine is very busy today! Perceiver apparently! x

Thanks for your replies everyone. I think that we will go back to pull ups for now and try again when he feels ready. I will try to get him to drink more during the day. It's nice to know that there are many other people in the same situation as we are. : )
