Pretend play question

what should a fifteen month old boy be expected to show in the way of pretend play? I don't really understand this. He has a few words but mostly likes to explore and throw balls and build. I will take his teddy and we'll do teddy's teeth or we'll feed him with a spoon and he gets it and copies it but I always initiate it. Is he expected to do all these sorts of things at this age? Or should I be worried that he isn't pretend playing enough? is there things to do to encourage it or is he too young

I'm not trained but thought that they didn't do pretend play until much later.

Do you take him to any groups like playgroups, free library sessions or you local nct social groups? They are usually good for meeting Mums with babies around the same age, having a chat and seeing that what your DS is doing is perfectly normal Smile.

I don't think pretend play really starts until much later, my son only started at around 3 and even then it was pretty basic.

ds2 has only recently started doing this, in the last couple of months - bringing me many millions of cakes and 'uppa-teas amongst other things. He's 2.5.

My DD is fourteen months and we feed her doll with a spoon and give her a bottle and she will offer her toys a taste of what she is eating. She has also just started 'talking' on the phone. That's about the extent of it really, and I had initially shown her how to do all these things.
