So she's been awake for 4 1/2 hours now...

Hi, Just need some advice about our routine. My LO used to have a lovely routine of a 40 minute morning nap after 1 1/2 hrs awake, then after 2 hrs awake a 2 hr lunch time nap. Then 2 hrs awake, 1/2 hr nap, 2 hrs awake, bed. Lovely!

BUT, since teething/ sleep regression kicked in I don't know where I am. She was falling asleep downstairs after being awake for 2 hrs this morning, but then just grumped her way through nap time. She is definitely ready to sleep now, but I doubt she'll go down for this nap easily.

Should I keep her awake for 2 1/5 hrs in the morning? I've seen other advice on here this morning to just leave her in her cot over nap time and then just carry on as normal.

We've had trouble with the morning nap for over a week now. Any ideas?

(4mths 3wks)
Thanks

I'm going through the same thing here, sleep just isn't happening.

I wouldn't recommend leaving her in her cot unless you think that she might get herself to sleep or she won't cause a fuss. I know my baby would just cry and cry if I did that. If she's teething she's likely to be in pain and want comforting too.

I'm just trying to watch out for tired signals and get her to sleep when she's rubbing her eyes, yawning, getting fussy and staring into space. It's a little bit hit and miss with whether or not it works and how long she stays awake between naps though.

Have a Brew from me. It will end soon!

Does she fall asleep in the pushchair? You could try strolling round the block at nap time. It gets them used to the idea of sleeping at a certain times and you can work on settling in the cot when teething stops for a while and she's feeling better :) everyones happier if baby is rested!

Thanks for replying both!! I will try the push chair, used it for her nap this afternoon and she went off without a problem. I'll try it for the morning nap too as that is the one that she really resists. Funny because it used to be the sure-thing nap that she'd do just fine in her cot.

FondleWithCare - I hope it ends soon for you too. I wish she'd make real tired signals. All I get are grumpy noises/ forlorn noises which start once she is overtired really.

Where has my easy baby gone!!??!!
