Anyone tell me reassuring things about DC growing out of bad insect bite reactions?

DS (15 mo) has had two now, once when he was bitten singly on the hand and it swelled up like a sausage roll, and secondly when he was bitten repeatedly on the face and had a systemic reaction with facial swelling, eyes closed, hives all over body.

He had antihistamine and steroids (oral) and in the first case, antibiotics too. We live in the tropics so the mozzies here are bad. But I've been told anecdotally that many toddlers grow out of severe reactions- can anyone confirm their dc have got better?

Have got scrip for epipen just in case and always carry Piriton etc now but it's not nice...

Thanks

Generally, I thought they got worse?
I'd get the script and always carry the epipen if I were you. With each anaphalactic reaction (if he ever had one), it gets a shorter time in which to get help each time they have one.

If you're out in the tropics, I wouldn't risk not having the pen and along with just reacting badly, it may be that there are infections that come with the botes depending on where you live and what bit him.
