whereas girls squeal and sing constantly .. I find that far more challenging than a little active play

boys develop quicker physically, girls mentally

vive la difference

and girls are verbally nasty .. DS is almost 5 .. his female friends sling insults like teenagers and sulk

DS forgets a strop almost the second he's had it

oops.... don't let it get you down babe. Lots of boys are full of energy like this, and some are not. Your DS is gorgeous and lovely and will remain so.

Anyway... wait til DS2 gets going. He may make some of those boisterous boys look positively still. (and I don't mean that in a wicked way )

If the boys are dancing like this you have the wrong music on. It's probably too fast and too complicated.

Give them all a feather and let them blow the feather or bat it with their hands to keep it up, or use teddy bears to do appropriate stroking, or get them to be trees (roots are legs and can't move) so it is just a hand dance. Or get them all to sit in a circle and use their hands to pretend to be sea creatures. Pick pieces that are more gentle, provide some structure and they will calm down.
