2 yr old not eating.

My 2.2 yr old ds has refused to eat more than a mouthful of each meal since breakfast yesterday.

He has been picky with his food for about a week - refusing his usual favourites of grapes and strawberries, would chew them then spit out.
This progressed to spitting out his meals when he'd had enough.

Now he is refusing everything.

I have tried ignoring and not making a fuss, just getting him down from the table when the spitting starts, not giving him anything else if he refuses dinner etc.

He hasn't had a temp or anything else that would make me think he was ill, other than the not eating.

I am now starting to get very concerned about it and have no idea what to do next. He and his sisters have always been great eaters so I am at a loss.

Might be a different illness without a temp. Keep going for a few more days then take to doc. As long as he is drinking.

Any ideas what it could be merry? Have had a look in his throat, hadn't been pulling/rubbing ears etc.
Normally when he's ill I stock up on grapes, bananas, blueberries, strawberries as those and biscuits are all I can get into him, and then it's only for about 2 days.

No ideas really. Is he constipated? If he's feeling 'full' because of that he may be off food. Or teething, the big back ones. I would go and ask doc, it's always best to register concern. Last time my ds2 did this around the age of 2, the doc told me not to give him any sweet things. Ds2 registered it all and ate his first meal immediately afterwards!!! Anyway, I did cut the sweet stuff for a bit, and it helped get his appetite back. Doc will give you better advice, but don't worry overly unless he's not drinking/ pooing.

My 1.9 DD has eating and non eating days. Some days she will eat everything in sight, others she will eat perhaps a yoghurt, a banana and two mouthfuls of toast. I've learnt not to try to get her to eat, she just won't and it makes us all stressy. She is still growing and developing.

Having said that...if this is a new thing for your DS, it's unlikely to be a new eating habit. Constipation??

Think you could be on to something with the constipation -ds is a twin and I know I have changed dirty nappies but thinking about it, not sure any were his Blush, apart from a golf ball this morning!

Has eaten a little today but can't get him to eat anything apart from a few raisins get his tummy moving. Will have another attempt after his nap if not then gp I think.

Hmmmm...I have twins too. I use to be soooo happy to get golf balls! (So easy to clean up). But not if he's not eating well still then it may well be...

I got ds1 (6) to go with a lot of cashew nuts, plums and lactulose.

I know what you mean about the easy clean up!

Cracked open the orange juice and dried apricots which did the trick and luckily it was while I was at work so dp had to deal with the mess Grin, appetite is definitely back but not for grapes and blueberries.
Strangely, he's still refusing point blank, to have them near him Confused.

Thanks for all the advice, will remember it next time before hitting panic mode!
