Thanks

Hope someone answers soon as I have same question, my DD is one in April. I think you can just mix cows milk with their cereal but still give them formula to drink too.

I just put a small bit mixed with formula ,and built it up to a full bottle within a week probably more like a few days .

I used cows milk for mixing cereals/food from about 9mths.

Tbh i was relived to get rid of formula!

I gave cows milk in food from 6 months as per recommendations. At 1 year I just replaced the milk in his bedtime bottle with cows milk (was bf the rest of the time). He took to it with no problems. There's no reason for them to have formula once they turn one if their diet is fine. DS had it occasionally if needed (ie we ran out of milk but had a carton in the cupboard) but that was purely for convenience.

I spoke to a dietician who recommended that I change from a bottle to a cup at the same time but I admit to not being brave enough to do that!

Yes, I still need to change DD from a bottle to a cup. Interesting to read what others have done. I guess this 'growing up milk' that they are supposed to have from one upwards is a bit of a money making con...?

I started putting cows milk in food from about 8 months and then when DD turned one just substituted formula with cows milk and had no problems. Definitely think this "growing up milk" is a complete con. When you stop the bottle, if your child decides it doesn't want milk from a cup all the advice is that its not a problem as they get enough of what they need from their diets so the idea that you should carry on giving formula milk until the age of 2-3 seems mad. Not to mention expensive!

Thanks all! Gave dd cows milk in her breakfast today and she loved it! Will keep it up until she turns 1 and then change her bottles too! Can't wait to not have to buy formula! Smile
