Nearly 16 month old can't stand unsupported - physio?!

Hello
My DD has been slowish on all gross motor skills, but slightly ahead in other things, fit as a fiddle. She can zoom around with her v-tech walker for ages, cruise and stand up using one hand, so long as she holds on. But she can't walk or stand unaided. GP checked her out about a month ago and said she looks fine, but I am a natural worrier!

All I want to know at this stage, is what sort of specialist would deal with balance? Her muscles and bones seem fine, GP agreed she is nice and strong. Hearing is excellent, she understands complex instructions and has words, so don't think it's ears. Would a physio deal with balance, or someone else? Or shall I just wait a bit? Thanks!

Wait!! It sounds as if she is almost there with walking and standing unsupported and will do it in her own time honestly. My DS cruised for ages and eventually walked around 15/16 months. My DD on the other hand didn't start cruising until about 16/17 months and finally started walking at gone 18 months.
She sounds perfectly normal. Some children walk early others don't. My SIL who is a children's Occupational Therapist told me that the longer they crawl the better their muscle tone will be so there are pluses to not walking early!!

It is possible that, not only are you a natural worrier, but your DD is too. She sounds like she is almost ready to go but is playing it cautiously. DS was cautious and cruised for ages before letting go, including a final week of edging along the wall.

Thanks, both! Yes, she is a cautious little character. I'll wait.
