Climbing out of cot - what age?

So, DD (13mo) has decided she's a little Houdini and she escaped from her Grobag last night. In my naivete I thought this would stop her ever escaping from her cot. She's a real climber and I think it's only a matter of time before she's out. Luckily she's small for her age, so I think we're a while off yet. Just wanted to know at what age (if at all) did your LOs manage to escape. I've seen videos on YouTube and it's hilarious! She has a wood floor in her room but I'm thinking I need to buy her a soft rug, and soon!

Dd was about 20 months. She was having a huge tantrum so I put in her her cotbed out of harms way and shut the bedroom door. Then there was and then a pitter pitter of little feet running towards the door.

I never did see how she managed it as I insisted DH take the side off straight away. She seemed a cross between stunned and impressed with her new-found ability so I wasn't taking any chances.

neither of mine tried to climb out the cot. DD moved to a big bed at 2 and ds was 2½. You can get grobags without shoulder poppers that zip down to the bottom and have a clip over the zip end so they cant undo them.

My very active 27mo DS, who is very much a climber during the day, has never tried to climb out of his cot. To be frank, I'm amazed that he hasn't, but I'm keen to keep him in the cot for a bit longer (he's a great sleeper and why change a winning formula!). So, you may be lucky. Or you may not -a friend of mine's little boy was able to leap out of the cot WITH grobag at 19 months. I would just see how it goes and keep an eye on it.

On the grobag front, have you thought of putting it on back to front - might be harder for her to get out of it?

18 months with both mine, had to remove side of cot to prevent accidents...

Thanks all - I'll look into the Grobag thing (if that stops her). Annoyingly I've just bought her the one with the shoulder poppers as she's grown out of her old one with the single zip.

Depends on the child. Dd1 never did-in fact she took about a month to work out she could climb out of her toddler bed on her own.
Dd2 at about 18 months.
Ds 9 months wearing a grobag (didn't worry about taking it off). Gave up and put a mattress on the floor on the basis he couldn't fall far then.

Wow! 9 months is young. Might have to invest in a crash mat then...

Never! DD at 26m still doesn't get out of her toddler bed unless I go in and tell her to! Long may it last. Grin

Ds1 never did. Dd never did. Ds2 11months. It was more of a shock to me than him. Took the side off his cot straight away but put a bed guard on so he didn't fall out when he was actually asleep.
