Hi to all mums who come here to keep our sanity!!Just like to say a special thankyou to jimjams if you are reading for replying to my message a couple of weeks ago. You steered me in the right direction regarding my dd's lack of speech, by suggesting possible verbal dyspraxia. I honestly had never even heard of this and certainly no SALT or HV or GP has even bothered to enlighten me that it exists. After reading many of your various threads to others, I have been visiting websites and now I am more than convinced that this is what my dd is suffering with. Obviously I now need to try and get a diagnosis from my SALT but you just "know" your own kid don't you? May I say, you seem to be doing a wonderful job with your kids, you are an inspiration to others.

Hear hear! ALthough I'm an experienced ASD mum Jimjams was instrumental in me being able to get mercury-free jabs for my baby. She is an excellent and balanced poster (send me that fiver JJ!)

jmg · 20/11/2003 23:12

I would like to echo these thanks! Jimjams also gave me some very good advice on verbal dyspraxia recently. What amazes me is that despite all the fantastic things she does for her own children she still manages to find the time and energy to share her experiences so that we can help our children too!

So many many thanks Jimjams

Also since we're taking the time to say thank you - thank you also to woodentop for starting this thread.

mrsforgetful · 20/11/2003 23:18

I respect her so much for her help and am always so worried that i trivialise anything about autism- i have learnt so much from Jimjams, davros, maryz to name a few and honestly search their threads before i search on the web !
Thanks and i hope one day i will be able to help people as you all do! I often wonder what jobs you do...are you doctors or 'just mums' !!!!!

coppertop · 20/11/2003 23:33

While everyone is saying their thankyou's can I say mine too? Thanks to Jimjams for all the advice and info. And thankyou to all the rest of you for answering all my strange questions and cheering me up (mrsf!).

Angeliz · 20/11/2003 23:48

The reason i originally found mumsnet was when i was looking for info on the Hib booster! Jimjams was the first to reply and always read her posts avidly as she seems to be ALOT more reasearched than i am about all kinds of stuff, so thanks from me too

Furball · 21/11/2003 13:12

Don't forget me! I've said this before and it's very true. Jimjams you really are an asset to this site, your knowledge is priceless.

And to think a few weeks ago, you were 'threatening' not to post - see told you so, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah!!!!!!

Jimjams · 21/11/2003 13:23

Gosh! Shucks! Thanks everyone.

That was really nice to log on to! (manic morning chasing carpets- still haven't got anywhere).

I only said I wouldn't post on MMR threads furball- but that only lasted 5 minutes anyway :0 :0 Can't help myself.

Can I just say thanks to everyone who's helped me out on here as well (group hug) Hmb, tamum, aloha, davros and all the SN crew to name a few.

Good luck with getting the dx woodentop- if you get stuck and can afford it I'd recommed the Nuffield Hearing and Speech centre in London. They certainly know their stuff- and they are the centre that developed the treatment for verbal dyspraxia.

Right lunch then more carpet chasing!

Jimjams · 21/11/2003 13:23

woops should have been

Karen99 · 21/11/2003 13:29

Sorry! A bit late on this one jimjams, but I wanted to add my thanks too. Much appreciated your advice.

hmb · 21/11/2003 14:09

And thanks, and a group hug from me too! Ds has the 'flu at the moment, so I am not in school. Poor weel lamb is a very soggy little boy at the moment

Demented · 21/11/2003 18:33

A thankyou from me too Jimjams, you are a mine of vaccine information!

tamum · 21/11/2003 18:38

Mwah mwah

I always think that post about taking your ds to a farm park written from the point of view of a bystander and then again from your point of view should be reprinted in major newspapers. It had a big impact on me, and I'm sure everyone who read it.

Jimjams · 21/11/2003 21:25

Hope he's better soon hmb. We've spent the last two weeks 'flu ridden (ds1 and ds2)- it's a nightmare- I've never seen ds1 so exhausted and knocked out.

mwahh tamum. Oh that bloody trip to the pony farm! That was horrendous- right in the middle of the door obsession phase- I have so many hideous stories from that time. Thank god that one disappeared!

Clarinet60 · 24/11/2003 12:39

Ditto all that's been said, you're a really interesting poster jimjams.

janh · 24/11/2003 13:14

From me, too, jimjams - your posts are always interesting, enlightening and good-humoured and often incredibly entertaining.

Don't remember the farm story - can anybody point me to it please?

Jimjams · 24/11/2003 14:23

It was posted in circumcision originally- but htat thead is far too long and bitter. I posted it again here to make the same point.

God that was an awful time when he had the door obsession........

Jimjams · 24/11/2003 14:23

it's about half way down the thread.

tigermoth · 06/12/2003 11:40

jimjams, just looked at your pony visit story again.

Posts like that from you and others here have been such an education to me. Thank you so much.
