Great you may think but unfortunately the lid is down!! I've not even attempted to start toilet training yet, although we do have a potty i'm sure he thanks its just another type of chair. Anyway he usually stands on the toilet to brush his teeth (we have a built in unit behind) and it must be about 7 or 8 times over the last few weeks he's climbed up and done a wee and then gone 'ooh oooh'. He also has a bit of a toilet obsession, in that wherever we go he wants to go in and have a look at the toilet. I'm sure he's not really for toilet training yet as he's never told me before when he wants to go and he doesn't really talk that well yet. I've not really made a fuss or anything when he wees on the toilet just cleaned it up- should i be doing anything different?

Leave the seat up?! Sounds like he's thinking about it - he's about the right age, but don't get too obsessed with it otherwise it can take over your life!! If you have laminate (or other easily cleanable floors) just let him run about with no bottom half on and try and catch at the right time - sort of follow round with the potty. TBH I did this with my first, but didn't have time with the others so I just left them in nappies until the point of them asking for pants and they were almost done in a day!!!

I would keep on just clearing it up though - I wouldn't tell him off, if you can't leave the lid open maybe leave the potty on top of the lid!!!!

You could try getting him to sit on a potty and wee before he brushes his teeth at night. Might be an easy way to get him started on potty training, depending on the method you intend using.

Try toilet training and see how he gets on.

At 22 months my dd was exactly the same. In the end I gave it a go, not expecting her to master is, but she was fab and two weeks later was completely dry in the day. I couldn't believe it because I was convinced she was too young.

Unless it's a bad time (eg you're about to go away or something) then I'd give toilet training a go. He may not be ready, but it sounds like he's rerasonably keen.
All mine trained at about that time thorugh their own choice, two of them trained within a week with hardly every any accidents during or after. The other took a little longer, but that was mostly because of reluctance to admit she needed to go when she was busy playing.
