I don't know if this is an odd thing to ask about - Night time nappies

My DD (14 months) sleeps through from about 7-6, the first thing i do when she wakes up is change her nappy but I have to say I am concerned because they are always so full! Sometimes they weigh more than she does and she's a big kid lol.

She doesn't poo at night but she clearly does a great many wees. Is this a sign that it will be difficult to get her dry at night when we start potty training?

Am I over thinking this?

I don't like that she goes all night without a nappy change and I used to wake her to change her nappy in the middle of the night but this wakes her up too much now and it's hard to get her back off again. If she does wake for a bottle (once or twice a week) in the middle of the night I do change her then.

Don't worry. DS used to wake up with some enormous nappies but unless they are leaking in the night I wouldn't wake to change them.

DS is pretty much dry each night at 4yrs. He still has a pull-up but that's more a 'just in case' measure than anything else.

I have a 14 month old and her nappies are pretty heavy, but it is fine I think... I wouldn't dream of changing her in the night when she wakes! She would never go back to sleep! Non nappy nights are a long way off... I wouldn't worry. Just make sure that when you are trying to get her to sleep through dry, you don't give her late drinks :)

Thanks, DH says I'm a bit odd worrying about this now, I guess i just wanted to know it was normal!

DD used to wet right through her nappies and I ended up trying all kinds of combinations, finally used cloth at night with "bumbers" - extra padding inside, and of course the plastic cover, as the only way not to have her wake soaked right through - she was out of night nappies at 3.5 and not a bed wetter after occassional accidents in the first few months, I never lifted her when I went to bed as she is a very light sleeper, and unlike my DS she doesn't get up in the night to go to the loo either - she just holds it and goes when she gets up - she must have a big bladder! I don't think nappies at 14 months are an indicator of how easy or otherwise it will be to ditch the nappy when they are a year or two (or more) older!
