16mo DS off food - teething or taste development. Likely to get better?

Hi, my DS used to eat everything, and scoff it down with gusto. He's now been eating like a bird for three days, refusing all the old favourites and pecking at just a few strawberries, banana, tiny bit of rice pudding, maybe a bit of avocado if I catch him at a good time. He's not interested in drinking any more milk, and really only has about 8-10oz a day. He's also become super clingy with me, and really whingey about everything - crying if he just trips up, or can't reach something. But if we're out, as soft play or something, he seems quite happy. He's sleeping fine, and doesn't have any kind of fever.

He's also producing particularly disgusting soft yellow poo nappies.

He's got 12 teeth fully through, but I can see his fangs are coming through right now.

So... my question (as many others have asked before), would this level of food aversion and grumpiness be down to teething (which we haven't had ANY problems with before), or is it an age thing?

I'd love to hear from people who had this from their DCs who can tell me just to sit it out and he'll be back to eating like a pig again some time soon...

Sounds like teething or illness, given the poos and grumpiness. We have had weeks like this. Don't worry about it, just offer normal food - maybe the more easy to eat type - and see if he will. If not, he will when he's feeling better.

As long as he is still energetic, has wet nappies, seems ok healthwise a few days without much to eat is normally fine.

Could be a little under the weather, or just one of those things. Prob nothing to worry about, think sometimes appetite changes like the weather. My 17 mth old seems really hungary but wouldnt eat any of his cauli cheese tonight. Me and dh thought he was just being fussy as he then ate yoghurt and fruit without problem! Like many baby related issues, it will pass. As long as he's happy in his-self, that's always a good sign.
