My lovely little 3 year old daughter goes mad when we get dressed everyday. It is making me very stressed. She just wants to wear pink clothes and read pink books, and use pink things. I don't know what to do. Mainly try o ignore it, but every morning results in a massive crying and screaming much when I try to get her dressed. Help?!

My dd (3) wants to wear a party dress every day. Sometimes it just isn't possible she only has a couple, sometimes I don't want to fight her. I try to compromise eg. dress top with jeans maybe you could try limiting her to one pink thing a day.

Let her wear pink. My dd at that age refused to wear any clothes that were remotely girly (she had a twin brother). I tried to make her wear all the pretty dresses in her cupboard, to no avail, she only wanted to wear boys colours and trousers. At 4, she noticed her friends were wearing dresses, and more frivolous styles and adapted accordingly.

I think she are just working out how to be independent and make her own choices, and this is part of it. Does it matter? Other trick is to let her choose some of her own clothes, so that you don't feel so frustrated by things not getting worn.

I remember seeing a mother whose daughter always wore fairy dresses to nursery and being amazed she allowed it (the mum) not very sensible after all. But in the end they were no less washable or expensive than any other clothes the daughter might have put on, a mite traily perhaps, but still. AND IT DIDN@T MATTER. WHO CARES? AS LONG AS SHE CAN RUN< JUMP AND IS VAGUELY WARM WHO CARES?

I mean choose clothes when you shop for new clothes.
