Having the same conversation a million times a day

Any tips on how to stay sane?

DS is 2.2 and every 10 seconds says, "Daddy. Outside. London," and we proceed to have a conversation about the fact that yes, Daddy has gone out, but no, he hasn't gone to London today.

It's driving me loopy.

They just do this! Try asking it back? Changing subject? I think it's pretty normal - sympathy for you as my dd did/does it too but gradually stopped when I reflected it back - actually now she is 3 I have said to her a few times that the same thing over and over is annoying and have heard her repeat this to her doll!

With my 2.1 DD2 is "where me daddy?"
"daddy's at work sweetheart"
"where me Mo Mo?" (pet name for DD1)
"Mo Mo is at school?"
"where xxx" (I'm a CM and this is one of my mindees)
"xxx is at school too"
"Where's xx daddy?"
"xxx daddy is at work too"
"where me nanny?"....... you get my drift :) we go through EVERYONE she knows, including the in laws dog, and the other day I ended up telling her Daddy had gone to the moon in a rocket! She thought that was very funny :)
I've also tried asking her where people are and she gets to tell me that daddy is at work (I must admit that I also ask her about 5 times too!! Wink)

Well, it's nice to know its' not just us.

It'll be worse tomorrow as DH had sent me a message saying he was hiding in the local library today, but he was actually in London after all (I never know when he's due to be at home or in London). DS thought it was very funny that I believed DH's joke. So it'll be, "Uh-oh. Daddy outside. Library. Uh-oh. London."

Thinking about it, I realised that it mostly happens when he's either eating or breastfeeding. Distraction seems to work well most of the rest of the time.

My DS (just 2) is going through exactly the same phase at the minute!

Except we have to dicuss a woman called Jenny who is pregnant...aaargh!!

DS: Jenny big tummy story please
Me: James's mummy Jenny has a big tummy because she is going to have a baby.
DS: Baby Adam! (DS is called Adam)
Me: No, baby Adam grew in Mummy's tummy.
DS: Jenny big tummy story please...

...and repeat ad infinitum...

I tell myself it's helping his language development, just to stop me from screaming!

We have the same thing here, DD was 2 last week.

DD: Mummy. Water plants garden?
Me: Not now DD, it's too dark.
DD: Too dark mummy.
Me: That's right DD, it's too dark.
DD: Outside now mummy?
Me: No DD it's too dark.
DD: Too dark mummy. Coat on now, garden?
