How to stop a climber?

DS is nearly 15 months < watches time fly> and is a continual climber. He has been mobile since 8 months and a climber for at least 3 months but it is driving me batty - DD was never into climbing on things.
So far in past 2 days I have watched him try to climb over back of armchair, climb onto table next to armchair and try to stand up and now he's worked out if he turns his shape sorter box upside down next to the coffee table he can stand on there. We already have stair gates across top and bottom of stairs and lounge door as well as in front of the
bookshelves. Any advice on how to put him off climbing ? We have removed everything to safety but currently have to be with him every second he is awake otherwise he climbs and then falls !

Ball and chain. Bungee cords. Lead boots. Maybe all three together. Good luck - I'm in the same boat!

You can't stop it. But if you channel it into activities that aren't dangerous that often helps. Soft play, tumble tots, baby gym, playground etc.

Or distraction and avoidance tactics. But really that's all you can do. I let mine climb the stairs under supervision from about 10 months to 18 months, then less supervision because he'd shown he was safe. He's nearly 3yo and still climbs but he's fairly safe because the risks in our situation are small and he has lots of official outlets for climbing.

locks on doors, eyes in back of head (sigh).
Friend was describing today her 18 month old who climbed a load of breezeblocks & then on top of big brother's motorbike. Luckily he's her 7th child so she's beyond nervous breakdown point, now.

Ha Ha, stop a climber...I wish. It just gets worse better.

I caught my 3 yo climber stood balancing on the head of a rocking horse in order to reach a particular book on a shelf ! Talk about heart in my mouth, I can't blink without him climbing something.

But to finish on a positive point is that most climbers are generally very good at it and in our case he has no injuries from climbing, just tripping at ground level, go figure.

I have no idea but if you find out please let me know!
My 14 month old will climb onto anything and if in her playpen with a toy will climb onto that said toy... noah's ark, plastic cooker, boxes, rocking horse, cushions...she turns them over and stands aloft going ta-da! in baby speak
then falls off

I think the best thing is to get him things that are for climbing on! Small slide, like Little Tykes, they also do playhouse type things, look around for anything appropriate, if not possible then try to include some playground climbing or soft play sessions regularly. If still into climbing at nursery age, look for a nursery that provides climbing equipment that is available every day.

My DS was forever being told off at nursery for climbing the book shelves (why oh why do you have book shelves that slope like mountains and attract climbers?), I was so delighted when he changed nursery to see they had climbing equipment always available, he never needed to climb a book shelf again!
