WOULD YOU GO?

My 4.2 yrs dd has a weekly meeting with her girl friend who is 4.4 yo and last week they were happy enough but the other child pushed my dd down 3 concrete steps for no reason at all, the other mum and I were both watching.
My dd had a slight bump on her head and a little cut but once all the mud was cleaned off nothing else, it could have been so much worse.
To my suprise the other girl didn't get much of a telling off and as it was the end of the day we went in the shop before heading home and her mum even brought her something!!
We have been offered over to her house this afternoon, would you go?
I feel the other little girl should have known better and am worried if i'm being over protective but the other side of me says if something bad happened (being pushed down their stairs)then you can't turn back the clock!
I was going to phone them and suggest leaving it this week and going to a soft play next neek.
Any opinions/ ideas please.

you are right to be worried i dont think you are being over protective at all-i would be the same. i cannot believe the mother didnt tell her off but maybe she was embarassed ? the soft play thing next week sounds like a good idea to me and if the other little girl continues to be nasty to your dd then maybe you could say something to the mother ? at 4 she should have known better imho.

I would ask your dd what she would like to do. If she's worried about seeing the other girl again or doesn't want to see her, I wouldn't go. If she would like to see her friend I'd go but watch what's going on very carefully.

thanks for your opinions, I'm worried I wouldn't be able to keep a proper watch on them because I will need to take my ds who is only 1.8.
I thought she should have known better, and yes was angry with my friend for not telling her off more, how will she learn?
If it had been my dd I would have taken her home straight away and noting from the shop etc!!
Just spoke to my hubby on phone whos saying it'll will probably be o.k and what am I going to be like when she goes to school!!
The thing is this is in MY control and if something bad did happen, it would feel like mt fault.
I feel even more undecided now!!
HELP ANYONE!!

Happyface, a similar thing happened to DS not so long ago on a play date. I gave the friendship a couple more trys as DS really liked the boy but it became very apparent that his parents let him get away with voilent behaviour so I won't let DS go there or the other boy come here anymore.

If your DD likes the girl ask her want she wants to do, does she want to play with her or do something else?. If she wants to go play then just make sure you're not too far away and if it happens again say something. I know that's not easy, but it's your DD that's been hurt not the other girl.

I don't think you're being overprotective, you're just being a good mum.

I've just spoken to my friend who says she spoke to her dd about the incident and she said she felt too near the edge of the platform so pushed my dd!!
The thing is when they first got up there my little girl tried to cuddle her and the girl shruggred her off!!
You are right pfer that it was my dd that got hurt so the other mum wouldn't be as bothered!(my mum says this too)
But if it were my dd I feel I would have shown I felt more guilty!!
I've just said I will go round there, we are only going to stay an hour and I feel like my friend knows more how I think about what happened now so will keep more watch on them.
At the end of the day I like my friend but my dd is more imortant and I was so angry last week I felt like having a right argument and never seeing them again!!
thanks for all your opinions I'll let you know how it went later!!

If she shrugged her off maybe she was in a mood and just didn't want to be there and lashed out because of it?

I think it's quite disappointing when parents let their kids behave in this way and do nothing. Like you mine would've been told off sternly then stuffed in the car and taken home. I would've felt so bad.

Well, goodluck.
