DS absolutely soaking every morning

Hope this is the right place to put this, and hoping someone has a great idea to help us out! Every single morning my poor DS wakes up absolutely soaked, right up his back and tummy. He is 16 months old and, bless him, he never complains or cries and sleeps through the night without it upsetting him. So, every morning before we do anything else he has to be wiped/washed down, bed changed, sleeping bag washed, and dressed ready for the day. We have always gone back to Pampers extra dry after trying other nappies to see if that would make a difference, and now put two on him to soak up any excess, which doesn't really work either. We've tried different sizes and not letting him drink after a certain time in the evening except for his milk at bed time but nothing seems to stop the excessive wetting. I just feel so sorry for him lying in all his pee :( My DH, in his infinite wisdom, said today that we should just get him potty trained and then this would stop Hmm. Obviously, DS is not ready for this and DH knows nothing about child rearing Grin This has being going on for months. Any ideas or recommendations?

This seems to be a common problem with boys between about 15-17 months - I have seen loads of posts about it and indeed we had the same problem ourselves. Apparently they have a surge of some sort of hormone or something about that age that makes them wee more?

Now DS is 19 months and we haven't had a leaky nappy at night for a few weeks. Not sure what has changed! Just to let you know that it may pass of its own accord.

Try changing him before you go to to bed, we did this with DS and it helped. Agree with dontbugme, Huggies are rubbish. We use Lidl Grin

Thanks for all your replies! Glad we're not the only ones with this problem. Last night he had a bit of a late night and so becuase his last nappy wasn't on until after 9pm he was dry this morning, so I think perhaps I will try changing him before we go to bed, quietly in his cot. If this is too wakeful for him then I'll have to get hold of a few real nappies and try those at night I think with the plastic wraps over the top. He's so good and never complains, but it must be awful for him. I'm also going to scour the supermarket aisles and try some active fit ones, called 'cruisers' here. I guess it's just trial and error, but thanks for all your help! Woodlands he's had this problem on and off for ages, so prob not his hormones. Maybe we just have to give him milk with his dinner instead of water and nothing before bed?

DS went through a stage of this and it only stopped when DH started doing the nappy up LOOSER! I know that sounds totally weird, but it worked. DS has quite a belly on him sometimes and when we do the nappy up too tight, then it slides down and leaks. But, when he did it up looser, it stayed higher up and we didn't have any more problems (until the night when DH was out and I did the night time nappy...).
Else change him when you go to bed/if you get up in the night.

I second underjams, I know they are for older boys, but are the only thing that helped when our son went though this

Always found that pampers nappies were dreadful!! I use ASDA own brand (again not very helpful if you are in Canada!!) all I can suggest is trying lots of different brands to see, I found that Pampers were half as thin as ASDA brand and double the price!!

Right, I've been out and got hold of a few things, so tonight I will try out the real nappy solution (borrowed from a friend) and see. Thanks lovely ladies! short my DS is really long and skinny with a pot belly so maybe that is the problem. Looser might be the key!
