my six month old little girl is still being sick after every feed. this does not seem to bother her but im tearing my hair out as im constantly mopping up baby sick. she does not have any other health issues and is generally a happy girl. any tips to stop it? or is it a trip to the doctors.

Have you tried winding her half way through? (sorry, I know it sounds stupid)

Is she on formula or breastfed?

If formula it could be because
-she is allergic to that kind
-it aggravates her stomach
-she's taking in to much
-she is taking in lots of air when feeding
-she needs to be burped more

If its breast milk
-you could be eating something that she is intolerant to
-she is taking in to much
-she needs to be burped more

After she is being fed does she burp?

Did you keep her more up right, the sicker babies i've cared for were less sick when they were more upright.

I've got a "sicky" baby too, also 6 months. She's breastfed and I have good supply/let down so sometimes she just takes in too much.

I noticed she isn't sick when we feed lying down with me lying back a bit (gravity helping with slowing my let down).

When younger she used to go through phrases of projectile vomiting- just taking too much milk; people said you couldn't over feed a breast fed baby but with my dd you could, she'd just barf it up!!

I knew it wasn't reflux - have you ruled this out?

She is sick more when teething too (swallowing the excess saliva).

My dd is getting much better at eating just enough. Haven't had any projectile vomits for at least 4 weeks Grin

she is being weaned at the moment and is on formula now and was breast fed for three months. ds has always been sicky she us always winded and doesnt eat enough to be overfed especially with milk she only has about 4 ounces. its worse now she is mobile and on her tummy more, dont know much about reflux but always thought it was painfull and it never bothers her. just hoping she will grow out of it soon :(

One of mine was very sicky, but no colic/discomfort issues.By the time I'd finished clearing up one lot of sick,it seemed the next lot was there.Sometimes got through 5 full lots of clothes and bedding a day.Its hard work,so I sympathise.
I found the more milk decreased and solids increased, the better it became.

2 out of my 3 were ridiculously sicky (3rd wasn't quite so bad but still did it). Never any sign of pain etc and good weight gain but constantly being covered in sick was really annoying. Bf until around 6 months then formula - no worse on formula, but no better either. I'm afraid that for us the 6 - 8 months stage was probably the worst as once they were eating a bit the sick was even more foul (and mostly orange). The sick stage stopped once solids became the main source of nutrition - i.e. three proper meals a day and milk just morning and bedtime, so around 9 / 10 months ish it improved a lot and by a year had totally stopped. Crawling was a nightmare, mobile and on tummy = sick everywhere, carpet, sofa etc, etc. Luckily all mine were early walkers (10 / 11 months) and once they were upright it was all a lot better (although that of course coincided with big increase of proper solid food, so it might just have been that). She will grow out of it in the next few months (although do get her checked by Dr if you are worried)

How is she with solids?

countessbabycham · 20/02/2012 14:10

I'd forgotten the sick all over the carpet bit as they crawl about Nelly

I used a fair bit of spray on carpet cleaner (tackle the patches after DC's in bed every evening).I also learnt that its easier to clean up fresh milky sick from the back of dining chairs than leaving it as it dries like concrete.

I don't remember it happening once walking started.

how funny just as i was reading your posts she was sick all over the rug she was on. she is really good with food she loves most things i give her, toast and sweet potato being faves. your right nelly it is mostly orange and i have cream carpets which doesnt help either. glad to know it wont be forever.
