I read in one of the baby books I bought that around 4 weeks old a baby would stop pooing all the time, and have on average, one bowel movement a day. My DD is still diRtying her nappy pretty much every feed. What is your experience? Is this normal?

Tell me DD that ! She stills goes 2-3 times a day and is 18 months.

Every baby is different - some poo at every feed, some once a day and some once a week. Your baby will sort herself into a routine and poo when she needs to and most days will be different.

3 poos today, dd2 is 13 months.

Most babies don't read the baby books Wink

Ds is 18 months and it's always a surprise waiting to see what time, consistency and frequency he is going to poo each day.

Whew, glad to know I'm not the only one who is changing nappies frequently!

I think your baby book might just be wrong! I know DS had constantly pooey nappies for much longer than 4 weeks. OTOH, by 18 months it was probably once every 36 hours. Things change a lot when they go on to solid food.

two today,and a lot of farting :)

dd1 went after every single feed until about 13 weeks.
dd2 only went every other day from birth until 9months, although is now a twice-a-day-girl.
