9 mo biting me LOTS

In fairness to him he's got another tooth coming at the bottom, but he's continually biting me. He's mainly after my clothes and whilst there isn't malice, I am saying "ah ah ah" when he approaches open mouthed, and a sterm "NO" when he actually gets me.

I've got marks on my arms and legs and I am terrifed that this might be a habit that sticks. No-one likes a biter!

Am I wasting my time even bothing with no (we get bottom lip quiver, so he understands he's done something wrong). Or is this just another phase that I should ignore?

Wish I had the answer. DS started biting round about then and it comes and goes, mainly depending on if he is teething. We say no biting and immediately put him on the floor, where he throws a tantrum for a few seconds then gets distracted by a toy. Sometimes it is better that others but I still can't trust him Sad

ddi was the same was never in anger etc. and i got some horrid bruises from him. i did lots of reading about it at the time and apparently its an affection thing as they don't know how to express themselves yet. just keep telling them no it hurts and eventually they do grow out of it. the only thing is his little sister has started now so looks like i will have this all again.

I got bitten on my cheekbone this am at about 5:45am, nice!

Helen I think that there could be some misguided affection. Before this blummin tooth we used to get sloppy snogs, but now he's clamping his mouth shut!

I will continue to say "no biting, it hurts mummy" and hope that he grows out of it soon.

ds on his first birthday party cuddled into my chest and bit hard on my collar bone. i was so embarrassed it was like i was bringing up a feral child, he id nearly two now and doesn't do it at all.

dd does this, she even bites herself when she is cutting more teeth.

DS is 12 months and sometimes bites. I don't think it's malicious though, it seems to be when he wants my attention i.e. i'm talking to someone else. I respond by looking him in the eye, and saying a loud, firm 'No' and often removing him from me. Obviously he's too little to really understand what he's doing wrong, but he DOES know that 'no' isn't a good word and i'm not impressed!
