Im really worried about my son. He is nearly 2 and will only eat a realy small range of food. Im trying to be strong and have stopped giving him all the food he likes (like crackers and cereal) but so worried he will get thin because its been days and he barely eats any of the good food I give him instead. please can anyone help? what should I do

My ds1 was the same. What you are doing is right, don't worry. He won't starve himself. Ds1 went 2 days without eating anything once, it was quite impressive, I am not sure I would have the willpower to do the same.

Some details that you may be doing already:

  • limit milk intake to a cup with meals and before bed. It can be quite filling and discourages actually eating.
  • avoid giving snacks, or just make snacks whatever food he wouldn't eat at the previous meal
  • don't stress about it! I know it is hard, but he will be fine and is possibly picking up on the fact that you care do much and is enjoying the reaction
  • eat with him if you can, so that he sees it is normal to eat what you're giving him

oh thankyou so much I'm really glad it's not just me!!! I have cut down his milk and we always sit at the table to eat together but he just gets so angry and cries when he sees nothing he likes or knows on his plate.

Yeah, that sucks. But he is just trying to get his way, it isn't that everything else you give him isn't any good.

Some kids respond to food cut in funny shapes and stuff like like that. Mine doesn't though.

Good luck!
