15 month stopped waving

My 15 month old DS used to wave a lot. But over the past few weeks he's stopped. I can't get him to do it. His child minder says he waves at people sometimes from the pram, but he won't ever wave at DH when he goes to work. He tends to clap instead!

Is this normal that they tend to put certain mastered skills aside or should I be concerned?

Suspect it may be partly 'cos it's become passe and also could be simply that your child knows you WANT them to do it! Around this age they are beginning to know and show their own mind and may do the opposite of what you want. Our 17 MO certainly does. She has mastersed going the opposite way to where you want her to go, going away from you whilst you are calling her etc and I think it may be part of this. Ours still waves but not all the time like she used to.

23mo DD hardly waves any more. She can but chooses not to. I'd not worry.

My 14 month has stopped waving too. He looks at us like we're nuts if we ask it of him. I hope it just means the novelty has worn off and he has other things to do...

funny I have been wondering similar thing about my 14mo she seems to go through phases of doing things then totally and utterly stops. Always said 'ta' but stopped now, claps happily but waves infrequently.. Sure it will be something else next week.
