14mo dd's painful pooing

Whenever dd fills her nappy she really has to strain to get it out and often cries with the discomfort. She has a really good balanced diet so I'm not sure what I can do to help her out with it. Any advice?

Does she drink enough?

I would cut out bread and bananas from her diet, lots of fruit (fresh and dried) especially satsumas/tangerines. Give her some diluted fresh orange juice, or some prune juice every day too.

If diet and increasing fluids doesn't work, try lactulose.

We had this problem for a short while, it wasn't nice. We cut out weetabix (does she have them?), introduced more soft fruits like grapes, cut out bananas and limited bread. It all made a big difference and she was fine and now, months later, she can eat fine again without limiting anything in particular (except weetabix - she gets constipated every time with them).

My 17 month old DD is suffering this at the moment, my mother in law said eggs and dairy have a binding effect so good to limit those while her tummy is getting back to normal
