or what number we live at (3); although bizarrely she can show you by holding up the appropriate number of fingers. It's like she has no concept of the name of numbers. She's also recently 'lost' the number 4 from counting 1 - 10 (1,2,3, 5,6, etc..). Will she be a maths dunce? Both me and DH have A level maths so we never expected this, we do lots of counting games, songs, measuring etc. but she has no interest. Should we just give her a break 'til she starts school - she's only at nursery after all..

Sorry to post and run, just leaving work, will check back later this evening.

My DD also lost the number four for a while! How biazzare! She started school this year is 5in April and now counts door numbers up our street upto 100+ as we walk home. I just incorporate numbers into everyday life like she counts out street numbers she finds it fun and distracts from walking up our hill :), items when we go shopping, buttons on tops, the number of red cars on our street etc. We make it fun I'm sure your DD will be fine in time.

Thanks ssmile, yes i suspect we just need to wait a bit longer - i was a bit thrown by her eyfs report, not so much assessment as guidelines, she doesn't do any of the number or calculating things.
