DS is 12 months and has never been a great eater though has been doing really well for the last few weeks. At lunchtime yesterday, he let me give him his yoghurt, then let it seep out of his mouth and drip down his top etc etc. Did the same after eating even less last night. Did the same after one spoonful this morning!

He has a bit of a cold this week but it is no worse since yesterday. I am saying no 3 times and f he still does it, taking him out of his chair without fuss. Is this a good idea? Anyone else experienced this?

Hi,
My dd (now 2) did this as well from about 12 months till about 18 months - not all the time but enough to drive me mad sometimes!
Unfortunately I never did work out how to handle it - ultimately I just ignored it - and then it just went away. She carried on putting on weight ok so something must have been going in!

I think it's just them getting used to food and what it feels like spilling down their fronts ! My DS does it. Annoying but I am sure they won't do it for the rest of their lives...(we hope )

ps - if they are hungry, they will eat

might be teething, or prob jsut playing. My dd went thru a phase of blowing raspberries with her food. It lasted a week or two, then she got bored of it. Best to jsut ignore it.

I thinking he is asserting his independance and teasing you, when i give ds a banana he will look me straight in the eye and nonchantly drop it on the floor.
My ds is 15months,sounds like yours is a cheeky monkey too.
If he is messing around i would take him out of chair

Sorry haven't been able to check here til now. I think you are right, probably a stage and he definitely has a very cheeky personality generally. For whatever reason, he isn't very hungry at the moment and is letting the food seep out when he is full. I am saying NO though as it seems very cheeky that he's opening his mouth for it even though he doesn't want it!!! Normally has no probs turning head away when he is not interested!
