Morning ladies, I need some advice!! My DS is my 3rd child and since December has started waking through the night, roughly twice every night and wanting to get into our bed.
He has been the trickier one out of the 3 with regards to sleep(roughly 2hrs a night for the 1st year) and eating(ie he does not seem to want to eat anything I give him for dinners).
When he comes in around 5am, I admit that due to pure exhaustion I have been letting him get in to our bed. Any earlier and I do put him back to his bed, but is like a stand off every night!!
He will be 3 in Feb and no longer has naps in the day(they stopped around 2).

Hi, How is he going to sleep when he first goes to bed? If you are helping him to drop off then he will need you in the night to go back to sleep again. You need to be consistant, if he can get into bed with you at 5am and not at other wakings this is confusing for him. Give him some incentives to stay in his bed and treat 5 am waking as a night time waking. Remember that sleep breads sleep he maybe getting over tired as he isn't having a nap during the day. If he is waking at the same times to you could try wake to sleep method. But he must be able to settle himself to sleep if he is going to sleep through. It is possible though.:)

Hi he goes to sleep on his own every night has done since he was very young, from 12 months old until last Dec he was sleeping through, am at wits end with lack of sleep again(he hardly slept in his 1st year)
Think I will try the putting him back at 5am also tonight and see how we go, fingers crossed :)

If he can self settle thats half the battle. Sound really obvious but check he isn't cold. Give him incentives to stay in bed stickers or similar. You can use birthday to your advantage big boys stay in their bed all night etc! Have my fingers crossed for you! :)
