Along the lines of wake times nap times and bedtime?

About 7am wakes up. Nap at 12.30/1 for up to 2 hours. Bed at 7pm.

threecurrantbuns · 23/01/2012 13:18

That is what ours has always done. But is now waking at 5 so wondering in something needs to change.

Yup same as dippywhentired although sometimes wakes earlier or sleeps in longer in the morning depending how tired he is.

Iggly · 23/01/2012 13:19

He'll probably stop. It could be teething, cold,
Developmental etc etc... DS does this every now and then and I've given up changing except for early bedtime if he's extra tired.

Flisspaps · 23/01/2012 13:21

Gets up between 7 and 9.30am depending on what she feels like. Usually 7.30am.

Bed anywhere between 5pm and 7pm depending on when she needs to go - generally around 6.30pm though.

No naps. They've gone out of the window so it's full on destroy-the-house-mode for around 11 hours.

threecurrantbuns · 23/01/2012 13:46

Well both of my previous have had this early waking phase but it was short lived hence why I've kept to hip usually routine in the hope it will pass.

Well its been 4 or possibly 5 months now so I wondering if maybe I need to take action before baby arrives.

mine dropped his nap around 22m, so now at 26m we have no daytime naps but sleep at night is excellent - 7-7.45! usually with no wakeups unless ill. took a bit of getting used to but worth it in the end, especially if they struggle to go down for a nap or struggle to go off to sleep at bedtime. :)

threecurrantbuns · 23/01/2012 15:39

I'm quite happy to lose the nap if the nights improve but I have to wake him from his nap so worried he could be awful late afternoon without one.

Today I cut it right back to 45 min and he took some waking but hopefully might make a difference Hmm ill be happy if he sleeps till 6am as I need to be on the ball for school run anyway but before 6 just seems wrong.

Interested as DS 22m has been waking on the wrong side of 6am for weeks now. Goes down around 7/7:30 with minimal fuss & has a 2hr ish nap after lunch. He doesn't like going for this though and on occasion we have pushed him later with no probs.

Considering dropping the nap but he kind of still needs it so we have some early starts. We're morning people do not too bothered.

Don't want him up later tho as he's pretty full on and want to eat dinner in peace! Grin

brightonbleach · 23/01/2012 16:26

mine was grumpy around 4.30-teatime in the first week that we stopped trying to put him for a nap - he was 22m and had already been refusing naps - using the time in his cot as trampoline time instead! so we deliberately stopped trying to 'make' him have a nap and, after the first week like I say, it stopped being an issue, the grumpiness just drifted away and he just 'is' awake all day now, on the odd occassion he drops off in his buggy if we happen to be walking out somewhere after lunch, but if its later than 2pm then bedtime will be a nightmare. Mid-afternoon if we are in the house rather than out playing somewhere then he might have 'quiet time' sat on the sofa with a blanket and book or DVD for 30mins, he doesn't sleep but it is the only time all day he isn't running/bouncing off the walls... Up at 9am, nap for up to two hours most days (not every day) around 3pm, then back to bed at 9pm, but often up chatting and singing to herself until close to 11pm!

KD0706 · 23/01/2012 17:35

My DD is 21 months. Wakes 7.30-8 ish. Nap at about 12 for 45 minutes (I wake her and don't let her sleep longer than 45 mins). Asleep in bed at 8.30.

I think the amount of sleep they need in a 24 hour period can vary enormously from child to child.

I'm sure there was a thread in chat about a 2-ish year old who slept 13 hours at night plus a two hour daytime nap. Envy

GraceK · 23/01/2012 18:28

Wakes up 8-9:30am depending how busy she's been the day before. To bed at 8-8:30pm. Dropped her sleep at 20 mths (the week her big sister went full time at school - so no free time for me!). Horrible in the evenings for about a month but now fine most days.

If she reaches the falling over & crying stage - usually after a really hectic day / teething / ill, then we take her for a drive in the car & if she falls asleep with 2 miles (we have circuit) then she can sleep in the car for an hour but not any longer.

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 23/01/2012 18:40

Up at 7.30 - 8.30, naps for two hours from two, bed at 8, but often awake singing and playing with toys for an hour or so.

threecurrantbuns · 23/01/2012 21:03

KD I think your probably right about them all being different.

Its hard as my first two dds did sleep a minimum of 12hours a night plus and 1-2 hour nap during the day everyday until 3years. Dd2 almost four years had a map today after lunch and has gone to bed perfectly at 7.

So I find it hard to think ds doesn't need a nap. Who knows, clutching at straws as feeling particularly tired today

My dd nearly 20m, up at 7. 30, sleep 2hr after lunch, bed at 7, bliss!! Although full of cold at the mo, so I've heard rumblings already!!
