Another sleep one! 11 month old

My 11 month old was a dream sleeper and slept through from 3 weeks old. For the past couple of months he has been waking up constantly throughout the night (as in 10-15 times).
We've been through a couple of developmental stages and be went back to sleeping well again but this has been going on for ages now and I'm due back at work in a couple of weeks.

His sister was a horrible sleeper until she was nearly 2 so I really want to nip this in the bud.
He eats lots during the day 5 small meals/snacks plus one BF at nap time in the morning and one at bedtime.

Sometimes he doesn't want BF in the morning.

He wants to go on the breast throughout the night but it seems more as a comforter than hunger and when he wakes up he doesn't really cry, just grumbles and sits up/stands looking for me.
We co sleep/he has a bedside cot.
Can anyone help?

When he wakes what do you do?

Perhaps being so close to you at night your too accessible?

If I'm not in bed yet I leave it to see if he settles but he usually gets up. When I put him down I try to leave the room, shush him, hold his hand before I'll cuddle him and sometimes that works. Sometimes putting a dummy in will work, other times he spits it's out and only wants me.

OK, well I'm not a fan of crying it out.
When I was going through this I read this here some find it a bit high on emotion but I found it useful and calming

Its a while ago for me, but I do sleep through the night now :)

Thanks waily - I clicked on your link half expecting a CIO article! I'm not a fan of that either and it would certainly wake DD up if I did it as we live in a small flat!
Will check out that book - I do like the William sears stuff so might get along with it.

Glad you're sleeping through now! Grin

No, I get upset if I think my DS has been crying for even 30secs, really not a fan!
Elizabeth Pantly really saved me as I had thrown the baby whisperer out of the window and shredded that other awful woman's book (getting a good nights sleep has still not positively effected my memory Grin)
