DS takes ALL his clothes off when he goes to toilet

DS is 2.9 and the last few days he has started the strange thing of wanting to be completely naked when he goes to the loo. He usually takes his pants and trousers (sometimes socks) off anyway in case of any dribbles but now he totally freaks out and won't go near the toilet unless he takes off every bit of clothing. I keep telling him he only needs to take his pants off but he insists on stripping off. Our bathroom isn't the warmest room, especially in a morning, so he will sit there shivering with goose bumps complaining that he's 'feezing' whilst he does his business. What is it all about??

Blimey, I had wondered about this with DS (5). Never dreamed that it was an actual "boy thing". How very odd!

Thanks for all your views! It seems most only get naked for poos but DS does it for wees too.
howdoo DS used to hold his top up when he went, maybe now he 'can't be bothered'! What's weird tho is he will say how cold he is after he's stripped. So why not just keep your clothes on!!!
Am surprised how many adults do it Hmm

A friend's son (3.6) does this too! Funny little people, aren't they?

Failing stomping this on the head.... Stomp DS on the head right away, then the little toerag'll keep his clothes on.

Ha! Made me giggle.

My friends son came over aged 5, in reception and went to the loo. I asked if he wanted any help, as he was a long time. He asked if I could wipe his bottom, which for 4-5 year olds isn't totally uncommon. I went in and he was naked on a all fours, pointing his bum at me. A bit of a shock. I'm pleased to report that at 10, said friend doesn't do it!

My brother used to strip too -

None of mine have done it - but its incredibly common and nothing to worry about.

I have 3 DDs and all went through phases of doing this! In fact the oldest (almost 13) still does sometimes! Confused

They do grow out of it, usually, but I think with my oldest it's linked to other sensory issues she has.

Ds used to do this for poos but doesn't now, he's 5.
