Poor Behaviour in Pre School 4yr old

My DS was 4 in Sept and just missed out on the school year. Several of his closest little pals at nursery did leave to go to school. We still see those boys at clubs and socially, but I think it might have hit him hard. He is a lovely little fella but his behaviour is becoming increasingly 'bad'. He won't get dressed when asked, says that he doesn't want to go to nursery - he hates it. Everything is no no no. He hits his older sister, he hits me if I try to discipline him, calls me (and everyone) stupid, says he hates me, he doesn't care. We use time out for bad behaviour and confiscating toys but it continues. He thinks that if he says sorry and looks all cute, that he'll be forgiven. I confess that he's my baby but I am aware of this so try not to baby him or let him off. It seems so long til Sept and the time when he'll be in school. I worry that he'll start school as 'the naughty boy'. Have talked to nursery and they are trying to make sure that they engage him in his favourite activities but everyday at home, he causes upset, especially to my 6 yr old daughter.

Are you engaging with him daily on a one to one basis? And listening to him? What's his routine?

It could be simple as attention seeking...he misbehaves, he garners your full attention. If he upsets your DD I wouuld just put him out of the room and shut the door for a few minutes. Tbh not getting dressed is normal...they're lazy little things really and neither of mine get dressed without an argument or moaning.

Hitting and caling people stupid isn't good though...especally if it is daily. The suggestion that he thinks he'll be forgiven if he "looks cute" suggests that this has been the case in the past....what I would do is reiterate hs "big boyness" at this point.....maybe tell him how his job is to help the smaller ones at nursery and be kind. The same at home.
