feeling down - 4 week old doesnt stop crying...

Hi,
My 4 week old DD will not stop crying when she is awake. She seems constantly hungry so I am continualy feeding her (even though she is having loads more than recommended) but even this doesnt seem to help. We have tried Colief and Infacol in case it is colic but neither seems to make any difference. Its getting me down as it doesnt seem to matter what I do (I also pick her up for cuddles etc. but again it doesnt make any difference).

She isnt too bad for sleeping at night time thankfully but I am just finding any awake time really difficult as I cant get anything done and my DS1 (age 4) is hard work to. I know its a horrible thing to say but I dread it when she wakes up because I know what is coming...screaming and more screaming! I tried ignoring her but she turned hysterical and purple within minutes and I couldnt do it.

Has anyone had a similar experience they can share or any advice to offer?

Lol...no not at all.. I have so many stories of people telling me he is hungry , dirty nappy bla bla bla. I know people are just trying to be helpful( mostly). I cannot and will not stay in my house all day just because he is crying . I just have to get on with it . He is tonnes better but it was at one point every waking moment which is crap.

Another vote here for both a chat with gp re reflux and also possibly cranial osteo. DS screamed solidly all day for 8 weeks until he was diagnosed with silent reflux and given ranitidine. I found that gripe water did help a little beforehand and that's also an antacid so may be worth trying. Gaviscon didn't really help us much so keep trying if this is your first option from doc. We have also recently had huge success with cranial osteo. He has gone from non sleeping ( day and night) and also terrible screamer in car to cheery little chap who (almost) sleeps through. I have dd who was just 2 when ds born and I swear I was losing my mind. Endless screaming is awful.... He is over 7 months now and reflux much improved so not the end of the world if it is that.
