Hi - my dream DD at 7 weeks developed colic and I am struggling to find anything to help settle her in the evenings.

I know there is no known cause & they say there is little you can do to make things better but I need a light at the end of the tunnel I am shattered!

I am using Dr Brown bottles, using Infacol, I've tried gripe water but she sicks it up.

Does anyone have any tips/anecdotes pleeeeease?!

Xx

I found coleif helped (got it prescribed as its expensive) (was ebf and coped despite faff) but found that cranial osteopathy sorted it out completely. Need to find a good one though.

My DD also had terrible colic, we used the Tommee Tippee anti colic + bottles and they really seemed to help!

Like mistlethrush I found Colief a life saver. I talk about it so much on here they should probably pay me sponsorship!

If you are BF-ing you have to express milk, I used to keep it in a pot in the fridge and use a bit each feed to put the drops in. Rather than the spoon they suggest I used a medicine syringe. It is a total PITA but if it works for you like it did for my DD it is so worth it. It took about 48 hours of giving it with every feed but it solved the problem for her.

After a couple of weeks I went to the doctor and got a prescription, the cheapest I actually found it was in Boots at £10.99.

Friends of mine have also found cranial osteopathy good as well.

Good luck, and it WILL get better I promise.

We're just out of the other end of this so can reassure you that it does pass. Really. Honestly. I know it's hard to believe now, but it will pass.

I can't add anything else about medicines than what people have already suggested, but presumably DD is also crying/screaming for long periods each evening? We spent months trying to work out how to help DS and eventually discovered that swaddling and white noise were the most effective ways to settle him down.

Have you tried ? Someone recommended it to me when I started a similar thread and it is magic!

Good luck.

Cranial osteopathy was the miracle for us. I don't know how it works and was massively sceptical at first but god, it was worth it!

I really feel for you as we have just come out the other side. We tried Coleif and Infacol but found Gripe Water the best by far (and cheapest) We tried to space out feeds in the evening so they digest fully but it was hard work and the screaming can be horrible to listen to. As every one said to us 'it will pass' and it has pretty much on 3m mark. Take turns with DP at holding baby to give yourself a break and you won't be the first one to end up in tears at 4am but once it has passed it is suce a relief. Best of luck.

Infant Gaviscon sachets really helped us, also nutramigen formula was a god send. Changed our lives. Both are available on prescription from your GP. All the best

We used a remedy suggested by DP's South American grandmother! I made a fennel tea - add three seeds to boiling water, infuse/let boil for few mins, let cool and spoonfeed the water (discard the seeds) to baby. Stopped our DD screaming within 10 mins and colic never came back. Amazing.

My second baby has colic. Now 13 weeks but this week her symptoms are still getting worse. Is she ever going to get better?
