Amber teething necklace, good or not?

DS is 7.5 months and has been teething on and off for around 3 months. Has cut bottom 2 teeth and it appears that the top two are on their way however teething is making him so uncomfortable and miserable. Constantly chewing, dribbling and rubbing his face. Very grizzly and clingy plus waking lots in the night :-(
Amber teething beads have been recommended and i wondered what other mn's thought of them? I always give calpol on bad days but am looking for anything else that helps, any suggestions?
Also once the top 2 cut is there some rest for a while or do the incisors generally appear quickly after?

you skeptics are so predictable and hysterical, i'm almost tempted to suggest some homeopathic remedies for good measure.

glad to have been of service and lightened up your afternoon Xmas Wink

my daughter hasn't had any problems with her teeth. I can't tell for sure if it is due to her necklace but when her old one snapped she was grumpy and restless until the new one came. The ones I stock in my shop (just a mummy) have knots between each bead so are not a choking risk as each bead is small enough to be swallowed with out getting stuck and only one comes off at a time if snapped. They are easy snap. I have tested them myself as how easily they snap and if I try to tie them they snap.

I have heard that they work. Not sure of the kids chew on them though. Small children do like to gnaw on my jade bangle. I keep my amber needs away from them!

I use them on my LO and I can tell the difference when she hasn't got them on. She wears them day and night. IMO I prefer to use calpol/nurofen as a last resort- so will try natural remedies (including lots of cuddles and talking to LO!) prior to medicine. The powders (Nelsons) are really good. Similar to other posts, I worry about the affect calpol can have on my LO's body. I dont take painkillers myself unless I'm in agony; each to their own and all :-) The beads are definitely not dangerous, I wouldn't use them if they were.

Sounds like arse to me. I used to put teething gel on DS's dummy - that probably didn't do naff all either, but I've more faith in calgel than I do in jewellery making a baby feel better. Maybe it works on really vain ones Confused
