How long should 4 mo be sleeping

My little boy is 18 weeks and for the last 5 weeks he has consistently gone to bed at between 5:30 and 6:00, I've dream fed him at 11 and he's woken for a feed at around 5am then slept til about 8.

He only has 2-3 30-45 min naps a day but has never been much of a napper(even as a newborn).

Nighttime is fine for me as I clearly don't suffer with any sleep deprivation but I can't help worrying that 14 hours sleep a night is a bit excessive. Just wondered what other people's experiences were.

Well, it sounds good to me. As long as he is gaining weight, and it sounds as if he is waking for feeds, then I doubt there is any problem. I have had one really good sleeper, like your ds, one that woke every couple of hours for ages and one that wakes at 5ish and won't go back to sleep (and he's 5).

my first one could sleep for england but as jubilee said as long as your lo is gaining weight he should be fine enjoy the sleep before teething sets in my other one was a little minx and kept me awake all night but each child is different and always go with your gut if you feel there is something wrong speak to your hv but he sounds fine to me . hope this helps

Just wanting peoples opinions and advice re 5.5mo dd who I think is teething - nights suddenly deteriorated early december - from being not good (up twice or 3 times in the night and that's after early weaning) to awful (numerous and needing loads of help to get back to and remain asleep). Typical symptoms some nights - dribbling, some writhing around and crying out whilst still asleep, chewing everything in sight etc. Some nights no apparent symptoms but still getting me up frequently - typically 9, 12, 3 and 6. She is very dependent on the boob to get back to sleep and won't take a bottle/dummy/suck her thumb/have favourite toy etc. Is this always still teething but on a 'better' night or is this veering into poor sleep hygiene territory? I know that the boob situation will need addressing at some point but sometimes when clearly in teething pain being on boob is the only thing that seems to give her any respite. Sometimes feeds well sometimes just comfort.
This is all new to me - ds is 3 and I hardly noticed he was teething at all, just got a bit dribbly.
She is otherwise doing well - pretty small but very active and crawling already and trying her best to stand so I can well believe that in spite of weaning she may need some feed/boob overnight so I am reluctant to ration it too much! Any thoughts?

apologies, posted in error

Thanks, I guess I am just lucky then. He's definitely gaining weight, gone from 50th centile to 75th in the last few weeks. I'm gonna stop looking at these books because my LO is definitely not 'the norm' : )
