Can this be teething or is something wrong?

My other 5 dcs never suffered really with teething - not up at night and no termperatures etc.

Dd 4 is 13 months and so far had no teeth! She went off her food a few days ago - would manage a bit of breakfast but not interested in anythying at lunch and supper other than fruit for some reason. She has gone from eating a healthy and full diet so having blueberries strawberries bananas and plums for lunch and supper.

She has also had a mild fever in the night for last 2 or 3 days but in day time is very happy and no fever.

Only slightly strange sign was las tnight when she woke up crying she sounded very gurgly in her chest but no phlegm and at one point sounded as if she may be vomiting. AGain not coughing as such - just mucusy perhaps and fluidy and I put her in bed with me as I was worried. After 5 mins she fell asleep and after a few hours I transferred her back to her cot where she slept beautfilly.

Fully expectredf her to wake today with fever or proper cough etc but again perfectly happy but not wanting to eat.

Struggled to get my finger in her mouth to check but can definitely feel the beginnings of a bottom tooth. Just a bump with slightly sharp edge.

Wonder whether all this can be teething or not?

Oh yes and other symptom is runny nose - clear fluid not green and not terribly runny. Sneezes a few times per day that is all.

Most puzzling.

Will take her to docs on monday anyway but just wondered whether this could be teething or if something else is brewing?

sounds like she is fighting a cold; also teething too!

calpol is your friend ;-)

Sounds like my DS2-12 months and also no teeth. Same symptoms-fever in the night, clear runny nose, smaller appetite, fine in the daytime.

I took him to the doc and she said it was all down to teething-and that there is a strong probability that all of his front teeth are coming at once poor thing.

How is your DD's skin? DS's has dried out so badly on his face apparently due to teething as well-I am sceptical...

Hi Alicious - funny you should say that - my dd's skin is also drier too! I can't believe someone else has a child who has no teeth at this age! It is so strange to me as my other dcs all teethed between 4- 6 months !! Maybe this is why dd is suffering so much.

There are a fair few late teethers out there! DS1 had teeth at 11mo, DS2 was 12mo a few days ago and nothing is coming through-but I can see them all under the surface-poor little mite is suffering and clingy and covered in dry patches!
I hope they come out soon for both of our DCs :)

Lisa my 12 month old only has 2 teeth and 2 on the way but what you described is exactly how he has been when he's teething. His nose streams and he's gurgly, rosy dry cheeks and a temperature some days. He has picked up a few things from nursery to so I'm sure its a combo but I really can't wait for his top teeth to arrive!

Thanks eveyrone. Rather thankfully dd is almost back to normal minus the runny nose which is still evident but still no teeth. And she's almost 13 months.......! Ah well - no such thing as a 3 year old without teeth surely! Its something they all do eventually!!!

Ds1 was like this and had his first tooth at 10 1/2 months. He still gets like this at 17m. I put calendula cream on his dry skin.
Ds2 is 5 months and been like this too-gurly, phelmy, clear snot, bright red hot cheek every now and then. His lovely sleeping routine has gone tits up due to it.
