My 14mths dd is increasingly bored at home so I'm looking for manual activities that are suitable for her age. She did apple painting this morning at nursery and did well apparently. Are there any good books with simple and fun activities of that type around ? Thanks

I don't know of any books, but some things my ds's and I enjoy are : pasta/dried lentil collages (with pva glue, potato/carrot printing, drawing round household objects and then colouring them in, making our own simple jigsaws out of card, decorating digestive biscuits with honey/icing/fruit/little sweets, making sandwiches/pizzas, balloon puppets...

I don't do this stuff any more than anyone else does - too busy/disorganised/lazy...but when I do get my ass into gear the kids are always delighted and really throw themselves into anything like this. They love the attention as well as the activity.

try your local library for books like this, there should be lots of idea books

My ds loves making cakes - though since I've realised the main reason is to eat the mix before it's cooked we don't do it as often as we used to.

How about making biscuits - that might be fun.
